QAC - Quality Assurance Committee

An important precondition for a professional heat- and cold protection is the conformity of the insulation material properties as supplied with the properties declared by the manufacturer, which are the basis of the design.

An important precondition for a professional heat- and cold protection is the conformity of the insulation material properties as supplied with the properties declared by the manufacturer, which are the basis of the design.

The QAC has established is a voluntary system by the industry, which checks the conformity of products with all declarations in the manufacturers’ product data sheets, and attests the conformity with a certificate. The tests are conducted by independent accredited  test- and supervision bodies (registered testing laboratory) at least once per year. The evaluation of conformity is done by an independent accredited certification body. This certification is mainly based on European Standards in cases when a  product standard exists.

As a result of this certification manufacturers are allowed to designate the insulation material for operational installations by KEYMARK and/or the VDI-MARK “Überwacht nach VDI 2055”. The equivalence of both marks was fixed in an agreement of the owners CEN and VDI.

  • European quality level for the measurement of thermal conductivity
  • Trustworthy basis for the calculation of heat and cold losses
  •  Improved confidence for consumers by means of product control by  independent accredited  test- and supervision bodies (registered testing laboratory)
  • Synergy effects to other control systems.

A link to the product database will be established here in 2013.

ABOUT THE QAC

The tasks of the QAC are laid down in internal regulations.

In essence they are:

  • Drafting and updating of codes of practice for the   execution regulations for the quality assurance
  • measures for the area of heat and cold protection of operational installations
  • Acknowledgement of accredited testing institutes, inspection- and testing bodies.

  • Acknowledgement of accredited quality protection alliances for voluntary quality assurance measurements  in the area of heat- and cold protection of operational installations.

  •  Appointment of certification societies

  • Advisory service for institutes and testing bodies in professional and formal questions

  • Supervision and checking of the formal preconditions and the professional competence of testing

  • institutes and testing bodies through the initiation of comparative measurements

  • Cooperation in European and international bodies for quality protection measurements of heat and cold insulation materials.Additionally, the QAC serves as arbitration committee in case of conflicts and complaints, which occur between participants in the context quality assurance.
