Picking (whether for customer orders or internal orders) is a process that is highly dependent on human resources planning. The interaction of technology and staff, and the appropriate resource planning require a high degree of experience and knowledge of procedures and processes. Planning of these procedures is subject to many influences and constraints. The application of this standard helps to ensure an efficient assessment of demand by providing the basics for calculation and giving experience values. This includes the human resources planning for new facilities and for daily operations. The standard describes the factors that determine the number of picking locations and the personnel placement.
