The standard addresses persons striving for reduction of energy intensity of their organisations. The alignment of a system of energy characteristics is a first step of such a project which will lead ideally to the implementation of measures estimated as economically reasonable. The standard serves as a compendium for the total optimisation process of energy transformation, distribution and application starting from the decision to be active in this field, to the forming, interpretation and evaluation of characteristics up to deduction, intermediation and implementation of energetically and economically advantageous measures.
