The standard refers to polymer melts, which can be characterized with regard to their flow behavior using the methods described, and not to polymer solutions or materials in the solid state. The standard supports the selection of the suitable method for describing the flowability of polymer melts from the product family of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), as well as shows the advantages and limits of the respective methods. On this basis, it contributes to a better traceability of specifications and limit values ??and facilitate coordination between processors and material manufacturers in the selection of materials and quality control or quality assurance.
