Abstract
This document takes account of the present-day level of knowledge regarding real gas behaviour and polytropic change of state. In addition, a series of updates and more accurate descriptions result from application as practised up to now. These also taken account of improvements in computer systems which, for instance, make the tabular presentation of simple equations and their imprecise read-off superfluous.
