Vibration isolation and structure-borne sound isolation are used for reducing transmitted mechanical vibrations.This part of the guideline brings together the preferred designations and definitions, explains how the various vibration isolation measures work and differentiates them. Information is also provided about assessing the success of vibration isolation measures and about side-effects which need to be taken into account.
