The document defines cleanroom suitability and determines the suitability of operating materials for their use in cleanrooms and associated controlled environments. The aim of this guideline is to specify a standardised procedure for the qualification or comparability of operating materials (by means of a statistical analysis of the results) with regard to their airborne particle emissions. In accordance with VDI 2815 Part 5, operating materials can encompass for e.g. production facilities (filling lines), measuring and testing facilities (microscopes), transport and handling facilities (conveyor belts), storage facilities and interior fittings. Cleanroom suitability is an element of cleanliness suitability.
