Abstract
The standard comprises essential information on design, construction and operation of waste gas cleaning plants using thermal combustion. This includes plants with a nearly adiabatic zone of reaction (e.g. combustion chambers with ceramic lining) and with a non adiabatic zone of reaction (e.g. flares, steam boilers). The standard provides help on the configuration of a thermal waste gas oxidation system and gives information on heat recovery, energy and auxiliary requirements, and the reduction of emission. Furthermore, the standard discusses aspects of performance guarantees and warranties, and decision-making criteria. The operating conditions, example systems and system design data presented in this standard cannot be directly transferred to solid and liquid waste treatment systems.
