Abstract
The standard presents a procedural model for systematically assessing the health hazards resulting from the handling and processing of materials in the individual process steps of additive manufacturing. The standard thus provides assistance in systematically comparing different materials for additive manufacturing with regard to their health hazards. Operators of laser beam melting machines are obligated to perform and document a risk assessment. This standard supports in a practicable and understandable way.The standards are primarily aimed at persons or companies planning the procurement and operation of additive manufacturing systems. In addition, the standard is aimed at organisations that advise operators of these systems on safety precautions, suppliers and manufacturers of systems, materials and equipment for safe operation, and logistics service providers for the handling of hazardous goods.
