Abstract
The standard specifies the commonly used methods for failure analysis of plastic products, outlines their operational principles and uses examples to determine what properties can be characterised by using these methods. The standard also gives examples of practical applications in failure analysis. However, information about the underlying mechanisms of failures should be extracted from the respective parts of the series of standards VDI 3822.
