Abstract
Often appearing cases of damage in elastomer products are caused by thermal, oxidative and photooxidative caused ageing. The standard describes characteristic damage patterns of elastomer products resulting from ageing and presents mechanisms of damage in order to allow for a comparison in the individual event of a damage. Advice is given to assess damage causes and to find the potential hypotheses and mechanisms of damages. The gained knowledge forms the basis for specific measures for a damage remedy and the avoidance of future damages. Individual cases of damage are considered as well as cases of series of damage occurring on individual products.
