Abstract
The guideline permits hedonic classification of a facility odour by polarity profiles. Panel members describe an odour stimulus by using pairs of adjectives (cold - hot, exciting - relaxing, pleasant - unpleasant, etc.). The odour emitted by a facility can be classified as hedonically definitely pleasant if the evaluation reveals that the facility odour qualifies as a "fragrance". For instance, the guideline can be used for checking the effectiveness of odour-reducing measures and for distinguishing odours when searching for the odour source.
