Abstract
The application of this standard helps to make software reliability more predictable and tangible. It is cross-industry, applies to all domains, and does not apply solely to embedded systems. In general, it is designed for being applied to systems in which software represents added value. It is addressed in principle to engineers, in particular to persons involved in the development of software (e.g. software developers, system architects, (technical) project managers) but also to experts as well as users, clients, users or customers. Functional and IT security are not taken into account in this standard.
