Abstract
Knowledge modelling is a central aspect for the future of digitalisation in the construction industry. It enables the higher-level linking of digital information models in the construction industry. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is already a widely used method of semantic information modelling. Through constant further development, domain-specific information is added throughout when using the BIM method. The construction process ontology described in this VDI 2558 Expert Recommendation provides assistance for the implementation of an extended knowledge modelling of construction processes along the value chain and should help to better link knowledge from different data sources by applying the ontology specifications.
