Abstract
The operation of ships with natural gas is an alternative to conventional diesel. However, the handling and transport of cryogenic fuels places greater demands on the components used, operations, safety, logistics, and operating personnel than conventional liquid fuels. This VDI Expert Recommendation provides an incentive to revise the existing provisions and shows prospects to make the checklists and regulations more practicable. This VDI Expert Recommendation is aimed at shipping companies, associations, legislators and the supplier industry who are interested in the use of LNG as a fuel in inland shipping.
