Abstract
This standard describes procedures for machine capability tests (MCT) of fastening machines. MCTs make it possible to determine the stability and reproducibility of the process variable "machine". This allows predictions to be made about process errors caused by the machine, and provides an objective comparison between the quality of different machines. The procedure is implemented through statistical analysis of the readings obtained from fastening tools (short-term investigation). It ensures that only suitable tools are used in the manufacturing process. This standard covers only tools that have a controllable target variable in some suitable form (e.g. torque).
