Abstract
Due to the ever-increasing demands on flexibility and efficiency in thermal power plants, the requirements on power plant I&C and power plant management systems are increasing and, with them, the complexity of the tasks to be solved.The standard describes the essential methods and procedures of superordinate controls and establishes general rules for their development, implementation, and acceptance. Based on the explanations for classical controls in VDI/VDE 3508 and practical experience, this standard describes the development, implementation and acceptance of superordinate controls in power plants. This standard refers to engineers in planning and operation of thermal power plants but can also be used for other process plants.
