When sizing actuators for valves with a rotary motion closure member detailed knowledge of the specific characteristics of these actuators is required. The standard provides an overview of different control valves with regard to the bearing arrangement of the closure member, the possible materials of the sealing system, and their design. Furthermore, it describes different parameters and possibilities of torques over the full functional range of the valves. This standard adresses all those who apply valves with a rotary motion closure member in OPEN/CLOSED and control applications. It describes the specific properties of valves with a rotary motion closure member and thus creates a prerequisite for suitably dimensioning actuators.
