The standard defines, in addition to VDI 3459 Part 1, the terms used for the focus of the mechanical treatment of waste and energy carriers in order to be able to place the generally applicable definition in its specific context and to differentiate these terms from each other. The standard helps the user to reach a consensus on language and content.
