Abstract
This standard gives an overview on essential regulations on the performance of emission measurements, which shall ensure that emissions from plants are determined such that results are representative and comparable among each other and that they can be consistently evaluated and allow control of emission limits. These regulations apply to individual measurements as well as to functional tests and calibration of automated emission measuring systems. Plant or technology specific conditions or requirements which require deviations from these regulations are not covered by this standard. This standard is addressed to plant designers, plant operators, regulators, testing laboratories and all persons and institutions, who need an overview on the essential requirements on the performance of emission measurements within the scope of their tasks. Furthermore, it serves for the elaboration of plant specific VDI Standards on emission control, which also deal with emission measurements. This standard does not give dispensation from the obligation to take into account the applicable metrological VDI Standards and DIN Standards considering air pollution prevention.
