- Abstract
-
Subject of the standard is the use of dandelion as a passive bioindicator in the context of screening procedures. The standard describes the procedure for the selection, sampling and processing of plant samples as well as the assessment of the determined substance contents. Dandelions are particularly suitable as bioindicators for persistent organic pollutants, e. g. polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Dandelion screening can also be used to detect immission-related inputs of certain (heavy) metals and pesticides. IT was developed in order to be able to draw conclusions about the contamination of food plants in the study area. However, it also provides reliable values for various pollutants in continuous plant-related monitoring in order to be able to assess the immission situation. In addition to the health assessment, the range of pollution also plays a role. The method can also be used for area-based monitoring.
