Kurzreferat
The standard deals with the storage of bulk materials in bins and silos. Refer to standard VDI 3972 for the storage of bulk materials in stock yards. Storing bulk materials in improper bins or silos often entails problems which may be minimised by a physical characterisation of the bulk. The application of this standard allows for optimal planning by giving an understanding of the problems inherent in the feeding and discharging of bins and silos and their extraction devices.
