This standard describes the process chain of powder bed fusion of metal with laser beam including the required periphery. The standard provides recommendations for the structuring, documentation and control of work processes. The operators of additive manufacturing (AM) machines are provided with checklists in the Annex to this standard in order to promote a structured, efficient and safe manufacturing process. In addition, aspects of quality assurance (QA) to be considered in the context of the standard (periphery and workflows) are listed. The standard addresses operators of AM machines for powder bed fusion of metal with laser beam. Furthermore, the standard addresses first-time users in order to inform them about the periphery that is required in addition to the actual AM machine.
