The standard defines, in addition to VDI 3459 Part 1, the terms used for the focus of the mechanical treatment of waste and energy sources in order to be able to place the generally applicable definition in its specific context and to differentiate these terms from each other. The standard helps the user to reach a consensus on language and content. With the help of this standard, a uniform understanding is made possible in the application of the same terms and the description of technical facts in the field of waste and energy management.
