The standard covers the simulation of production equipment (robots, machine tools and processing machines), as well as the simulation of production processes (joining, cutting, forming, primary forming and coating). The standard focuses in each case on the simulation of a production facility and on an individual process.This standard supports users in the use of non-discrete-event simulation methods (e. g., FEM, CFD, geometric-physical), which require different procedures in terms of parameterisation and simulation use. It gives an overview of the effort and the expected benefits of using simulation methods for 3D motion simulation and for various manufacturing processes.
