This standard defines and describes an energy measurement system as the basis for a functioning energy management and its different objectives and designs. It defines the term "energy measurement system" in the sense of energy management and is therefore applicable to the different areas of application, e. g. measurement objects of public regional authorities, private customer installations, commercial and industrial objects, or objects of energy supply companies.
