Large amounts of data are collected in production processes, for example for control tasks or for quality assurance. These data can be utilised for further process and business improvements.The series of standards VDI/VDE 3715 presents a reporting method that makes it possible to identify these data and record their value as objectively as possible. The standard provides assistance in applying the methodology for process optimisation and is used to create the data report in accordance with VDI/VDE 3715 Part 1. The aim of production processes is to use given production resources to produce a product that meets specified quality criteria from a minimum of raw materials and energy. Accordingly, the standard supports the use of data from production processes for the purpose of business and energy optimisation or to improve product quality.
