More than one million people die in road accidents worldwide every year. The example of Europe shows that this does not have to be the case. Since the 1970s, the number of road deaths there has been declining, although the mileage has continued to rise and the number of accidents has by no means fallen to the same extent as the number of (still numerous) victims. The logical conclusion is clear: vehicles and the traffic environment have become safer. But safety can still be improved. This is the firm conviction of the FVT experts in the “Safety, Methods and Processes” Technical Division.
