The standard offers valuable advice for designers, purchasers and users of machine tools, as well as coolant manufacturers with regard to plant design and material selection. VDI 3035 is currently the only official standard for this subject. The topic of energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important for users of machine tools with cooling lubricants. Therefore the current state of the art on this subject is now contained in this standard for the first time. The topic of material selection has come to the fore in recent years, and due to further findings on the state of the art, the topic of material compatibility when using machining media has been separated out into its own standard VDI 3035 Part 2.
