This guideline describes typical application scenarios of XML technologies in automation. Typical requirements and a systematic procedure model are described. This procedure model gives hints for an assessment of the suitability of XML-based descriptions for transfer models and also for transfer, validation and documentation. XML-schemata are the result. These XML-schemata are basis for XML-instances, definition of functions for XML-based webservices or for the XML-transformations. Target groups for this guideline are decision makers, software and system architects and software developers.
