The standard shows the benefits and procedures of industrial design in the context of product creation and related development and design processes. It shows why and how industrial design can be effectively integrated into the overall product development process in a timely and comprehensive manner. The following aspects of innovative and market-oriented product design are considered: The human/user is the focus of product design; Industrial design is part of the corporate and brand strategy; Goals, activities and methods of industrial design are an integral part of the product development process according to VDI 2221. Checklists and examples for implementation in practice are listed in addition. This standard is addressed to all persons involved in the product development processes, both organizationally and operationally, but especially to engineers, industrial designers and product managers.
