The series of standards VDI 3786 standardizes the measurement methods (and, in part, also the observational methods), including calibration, recording and evaluation as well the installation and maintenance of instruments. This standard gives an overview of general problems of meteorological measurements and imparts basic knowledge of meteorology for measurement purposes. In this connection, quality assurance plays a major role. It is particularly addressed to measurement technicians, engineers and other experts without special meteorological training, as well as to the manufacturers of meteorological instruments.
