Greenwashing and Authentic Marketing

Beschreibung

Ein Vortrag zum Themenschwerpunkt "Digitalisierung und Nachhaltigkeit" Greenwashing and Authentic Marketing Globalization has led to a radical change in our lives and our societies. While it has brought countless benefits, it can also be blamed for negative impacts on the environment, people and society. Our demand for more products and services at faster rates and cheaper prices has led to the deterioration of the environment and the exploitation of people. Over the years, knowledge of these issues surfaced, leading to increased public awareness and thus to pressure on governments and companies to act sustainably. Through this development, companies that were perceived to be environmentally and socially friendly increased their customer loyalty and market share. Today we can see numerous companies launching eco-friendly products and showcasing their passion for sustainability. But as the shelves start to turn green, we begin to wonder how many companies take sustainability seriously and how many only use it as a marketing tool? So what can be done for consumers to answer this question? How can companies properly display their eco-friendly and socially responsible efforts to customers and how can customers know these efforts are true? Anitta Toma holds her M.A. in Developmental Economics and International Studies with a focus on Sustainability. She is currently a researcher in the field of sustainability and is working with the Institute for Sustainability in Nuremberg and the company Green Story in Toronto, Canada.
